Privacy
How Junkie looks after your information, on junkie.nz and in the Junkie app. Last updated 3 November 2026.
What we collect
- Your email address, so you can sign in with a one-time code. We never ask for a password.
- What you choose to add: your display name, town or region, listings, photos and messages with other members.
- Basic technical logs (such as when a request was made) so we can keep Junkie running and safe.
How we use it
- To run the marketplace: show your listings, let buyers message you and keep your account secure.
- When you ask Junkie to write a listing, your photos and notes are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to identify the item and research prices. They aren't used to train AI models.
- We don't sell your information and we don't use advertising trackers in the app.
Where it's stored
- Your data is stored with Supabase in Sydney, Australia, and the website runs on Vercel. Listing photos you publish are public, so anyone can see them.
- We only show your town or region on listings, never your street address.
Your choices
- You can edit or remove your listings at any time.
- You can delete your account from My stuff in the app. That removes your account, listings, photos and messages.
- Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you. Email kiaora@junkie.nz.
Reports and safety
- You can report any listing. We review reports within 24 hours and remove anything counterfeit, offensive or prohibited.
